Unlock Innovation Funding to Accelerate Fleet Electrification in Washington

The Washington State Department of Commerce is offering up to $1.5 million per project through the Washington Electric Vehicle Charging Program (WAEVCP) Innovation Category, supporting projects that accelerate fleet electrification across the state.

Backed by the Climate Commitment Act, this grant opportunity is specifically designed for projects that tackle hard-to-charge use cases and address key access and infrastructure gaps.

Now in its second round, the Innovation Category seeks bold proposals that:

  1. Create scalable, non-traditional charging solutions

  2. Improve the efficiency and performance of EV charging deployment

To support potential applicants, Western Washington Clean Cities (WWCC) will host a webinar on November 18 highlighting key program details, eligibility, and application strategies. Attendees will gain insight into what makes a strong proposal and how to build effective partnerships aligned with program goals.

The webinar will also feature Xos Trucks, a WWCC member that developed the Xos Hub™—a mobile charging solution built in response to real fleet electrification challenges. The Xos Hub enables fleets to:

  • Bypass lengthy utility upgrades

  • Deploy EVs more quickly

  • Integrate vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and mobile backup power

  • Utilize smart energy management tools

The Innovation Category offers an opportunity to rethink EV infrastructure—from fixed assets to flexible, deployable tools that meet fleets where they are.
