Member Spotlight: Puget Sound Clean Air Agency

About Puget Sound Clean Air Agency

Puget Sound Clean Air Agency is a regional government agency that preserves, protects, and enhances air quality and public health, enforces the Clean Air Act, supports policies to reduce climate change, and partners with communities to do this work equitably. Serving King, Kitsap, Pierce, and Snohomish counties, home to over half of Washington state’s population, the Agency plays a crucial role in fostering regional collaboration to reduce emissions and improve air quality.

Engaging with communities, organizations, and jurisdictions, the Agency works to identify and support air quality projects that equitably reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.  The Agency establishes regional partnerships, shares technical expertise, leads delivery of air quality programs, creates incentives to reduce emissions, and connects project partners with funding opportunities for emissions reductions.

Diesel Solutions

The Agency has collaborated with external partners on transportation and cargo handling equipment electrification projects.  This work has been done primarily in overburdened communities, funded through federal and state programs under the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA).  To date, the Agency has deployed 20 electric yard trucks with the deployment of seven more in the works by 2027.  Previous diesel grants have also focused on school buses, heavy-duty trucks, and harbor vessels.

Stay informed about the latest opportunities to reduce diesel pollution by joining our Diesel Solutions mailing list. If you are interested in collaborating with the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency to fund a project, please fill out the appropriate pre-application form and submit it to us.

Transportation Electrification

In partnership with the Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC), the Agency leads the Puget Sound Regional Electric Vehicle (REV) Collaborative to help prepare the region for an all-electric transportation future.  This initiative provides resources and support to planners and decisionmakers as they electrify transportation systems in their jurisdictions.
